this is the start of my Calligraphic Expression Series - I was doing an outdoor painting session and was just bored stiff this time so I grabbed another panel and just went after a free association interpretation of the tree right in front of me letting the brush do the thinking and leaving each brush mark as a signature while I tried not to worry it to death with fearful corrections knowing I could start over if needed, I like what happened. I think of it as "Modern Western Sumi Work."
